The Smilla is one of three shoes in the summer range built on crepe rather than cork. Crepe is a natural rubber with a soft, slightly bouncy feel underfoot — comfortable from the first step, quiet to walk in, and grippy on most surfaces. No breaking-in.
The upper is stitchdown-constructed — a traditional boot-making technique where the leather is folded outward and stitched directly to the sole. It gives the sandal a distinctive silhouette (you can see the exposed stitch line around the base) and a longer-lived shoe: the sole can be replaced without pulling the upper apart.
Inside, a soft microfibre-lined footbed that keeps its shape and dries quickly. A gold-tone buckle at the ankle for adjustable fit. Foot-shaped last, made in Portugal, in soft tumbled leather.
